How it works. Your dollar risk is what you lose if the stop is hit — position size is simply that risk budget divided by the per-unit loss at your stop: Position Size = Risk $ ÷ Stop Distance (× per-point value for futures, × pip value for forex). Sizes are always rounded down, so your actual risk never exceeds your budget. This is the exact method taught in Section 6.4 — Position Sizing.
